The vessel "Masyu" is the first in the domestic shipping industry to introduce a VR navigation system.
As part of our maritime digital transformation, we
became the first coastal shipping company to install the VR Navigation System
We have released a promotional video on our corporate website showcasing the VR Navigation System's actual operation and benefits.
Please take a look and experience our new initiative for yourself.

System was developed to achieve autonomous navigation
as part of the Nippon Foundation's unmanned navigation project "MEGURI2040" (Note 1) It uses virtual reality technology to display information necessary for safe vessel operation, enhancing human spatial awareness.
In addition to nautical chart information, it also displays radar and AIS information, collision risk areas, and other bird's-eye views.
Note 1. "MEGURI2040" is a project in which NYK is also participating, and which
aims to develop technology to commercialize autonomous ships, with the aim of resolving social issues in coastal shipping, such as labor shortages due to the declining birthrate and aging population, and marine accidents caused by human error, and strengthening Japan's maritime industry and related industries
.
has been granted an Innovation Endorsement Notation (IE)
by ClassNK (ClassNK), a general incorporated foundation
The acquired codes are for advanced safety measures:
1) Advanced Safety (Collision Risk Indication System) (a-SAFE (CRI))
Advanced Safety (Extended Reality Display System) (a-SAFE (XRD)).
The above 1) is the first to be acquired by a coastal shipping company.
