Participation in the Nippon Foundation's unmanned ship program "DFFAS Project"

As part of the NYK Group, together with Japan Marine Science Co., Ltd. and MTI Co., Ltd., NYK is participating in the DFFAS (Designing the Future of Full Autonomous Ship) project, which was launched with 30 domestic companies as part of the "Joint Technology Development Program for Demonstration Experiments of Unmanned Ships," a project jointly implemented by NYK Line and The Nippon Foundation (hereinafter referred to as "The Nippon Foundation").

The DFFAS project aims to be the world's first to successfully conduct a demonstration experiment of autonomous navigation on a coastal ship. The project involves various initiatives that utilize the technology and experience the NYK Group has cultivated through the technological development of manned autonomous ships, with the goal of commercializing full-scale autonomous ships by 2025.

As a member of the NYK Group, NYK will develop and support the technology for autonomous ships, and together with NYK, will contribute to the success of the project.
