safe transportation

On October 1, 2006, partial revisions to the Maritime Transportation Act and the Coastal Shipping Business Act came into effect, along with the introduction of a safety management system. This made it mandatory to implement a safety management system based on safety management regulations. Taking this opportunity, we have reviewed our safety management system and are working to ensure safe transportation.

Our Safety Policy

  1. All employees, including the CEO and managers, are strongly aware that safe operation is the best service we can provide to our customers, and we strive to ensure the safe and stable transportation of cargo.

  2. Safe operation can only be achieved through integrated operations between sea and land. We aim to achieve zero accidents by always maintaining good communication with shipowners and ship crews.

  3. We maintain a good safety management system by repeating the PDCA cycle of planning (PLAN), doing (DO), checking (CHECK), and reviewing and improving (ACT).

  4. We will comply with safety management regulations and all relevant laws and regulations related to ship operation.

  5. We must always keep in mind that accidents can creep up right under our feet even when no accidents have occurred, and we strive to operate with utmost caution.

  6. In the event of a natural disaster, safety will be our top priority, and we will ensure the safety of our sea and land employees, mitigate damage, and maintain the continuity of necessary transportation.

Specific safety initiatives

We formulate an annual activity plan and implement safety initiatives in accordance with this plan.

  1. Main initiatives
: Monthly internal safety meetings hosted by the CEO (President)
; Visits to all operating ships and on-board safety meetings
    ; Annual shipowner safety meetings attended by all shipowners;
Lectures by safety managers from other industries
    ; Company-wide accident training
; Regularly formulating and implementing priority safety measures and reviewing their implementation status

  2. Establishment of a Safety Management Department staffed by marine engineers
In January 2007, we established a Safety Management Department staffed by marine engineers to build a centralized safety management system.

  3. Establishment of an emergency safety reinforcement period.
The CEO will personally visit the ship and strongly request safe operation.
Safety posters will be created and distributed to strongly urge the ship's crew to be aware of the need for safe operation.
During this period, specific safety measures will be formulated and implemented.

  4. Promoting near miss awareness
The company and all operating vessels are working together to promote near miss awareness.

  5. ・Safety support from Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha
・Dispatch of safety specialists to our company
・Safety training for our safety management department staff

Initiatives for environmentally friendly operations

In addition to safe operation, we are also working to operate in an environmentally friendly manner.

  2. Formulating and implementing environmentally friendly vessel allocation and operation schedules

  3. Implementing fuel saving measures
    , using fuel improvers
, improving propulsion efficiency by polishing propellers
, examining economically efficient operation by analyzing fuel consumption data from all operating ships,
and investigating and researching energy-saving equipment and measures.

  4. Reducing waste generated on board

  5. Educating crew members about environmentally friendly operations

  6. Participation in the Group Environmental Management of Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha
