Cooperation in environmental conservation - Support for the Kuroshima Research Institute

Our domestic shipping business is supported by the sea.

On the occasion of our 100th anniversary in 2023, we wondered if we could give back to the beautiful ocean of the future.

In particular, as we considered supporting domestic marine conservation activities, we decided to donate a research vessel (named "AKARI") to the Kuroshima Research Institute of the NPO Sea Turtle Association of Japan, located on Kuroshima Island in the Yaeyama Islands of Okinawa Prefecture, to conduct research on sea turtles and other marine life.

The Sea Turtle Council of Japan, an NPO, was established in 1990 with the aim of researching and preserving the ecosystem surrounding sea turtles. The Kuroshima Research Institute works to improve the health of the marine ecosystem by researching and protecting marine life in the Yaeyama Islands, exhibiting research results, and providing environmental education.

We will continue to support the activities of the Kuroshima Research Institute and the research vessel "AKARI."
