Following the enforcement of the Act on Special Measures for Pandemic Influenza and Other Infectious Diseases, we are taking measures to provide transportation support to quickly provide emergency supplies at the request of the government in the event of an outbreak of new strains of influenza.

Summary of the "Operational Plan for Countermeasures against New Influenza and Other Infectious Diseases"

The Act on Special Measures for Pandemic Influenza and Other Infectious Diseases Preparedness (Act No. 31 of 2012) requires designated public institutions to take appropriate measures in carrying out their business, and to continue operations in a way that minimizes the impact on people's lives and the national economy in the event of an outbreak of pandemic influenza or other infectious diseases. The Act also requires designated public institutions to prepare an operational plan for pandemic influenza and other infectious diseases countermeasures when carrying out their operations, report it to the Prime Minister, and make the summary public. Based on this, Kinkai Yusen Co., Ltd., a designated public institution, has established a "Pandemic Influenza and Other Infectious Diseases Countermeasures Operational Plan," the summary of which is as follows:

1. Matters concerning measures against new strains of influenza, etc.

(1) Contents and implementation methods of pandemic influenza countermeasures

・Based on the government's assumptions, we will appropriately transport cargo as part of our countermeasures against new strains of influenza, etc.
(・If the national and local governments request the transportation of emergency supplies such as food, we will coordinate with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Japan Federation of Coastal Shipping Associations to ensure a system that can be implemented appropriately.)

- Discuss cooperation with relevant parties (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Japan Federation of Coastal Shipping Associations) in the event of an outbreak of new influenza, etc., which is essential for implementing countermeasures against new influenza, etc.

3. Other

(1) Education and training

- We will strive to acquire correct knowledge on a regular basis, and conduct training to ensure that employees are aware of the information and can carry out appropriate measures to combat new influenza and other diseases, and we will also strive to participate in training conducted by the national or local government.

- If there are common measures for measures against new influenza, etc. and other training, consideration will be given to organically linking training for measures against new influenza, etc. with other training as necessary.

(2) Review of the plan

- The contents of this plan will be reviewed from time to time and revised if necessary.

- When making changes to the plan in the preceding paragraph, if it is deemed necessary, we will ensure that we have an opportunity to hear the opinions of those engaged in work under this plan, and will also endeavor to seek opinions from a wide range of related parties.
